Sitar is a Persian word, which literally means “Seh Taar”. Which means a musical instrument with three strings. But now the sitar has 18-21 strings, some of which are main strings and some are auxiliary strings, some famous scholars of sitar are Pandit Ravi Shankar, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee who have taken sitar to a new height in the whole world and have made the whole world aware of its melodious sounds.
Just like you can easily find teachers for keyboard, tabla, vocal, you cannot easily find teachers for sitar, due to which it becomes difficult for people to learn sitar, keeping this thing in mind, Anhad Naad Foundation requested “Shri Uma Shankar Ji” to take out some time and start sitar classes here too so that people here can easily get an opportunity to know and learn about sitar. I thank “Shri Uma Shankar Ji” that he accepted my request and started sitar classes here.
